The Knit Tabi(ドット)× TUっKAKE を履いて歩く足元 — ISAMI

A new idea of tabi, sewn from knit

TUっKAKE(革サンダル)を抱えるクローズアップ — ISAMI

Walk in tabi. A sandal with a thong.

Not knitted. Tailored.

About ISAMI

STORY

Two craft regions joined hands.

The knit region of Mitsuke, Niigata and the tabi region of Gyoda, Saitama. A knit worked until it could be cut and sewn as tabi, then tailored in Gyoda by the tabi method. Behind something that looks like a sock is a completely different construction.

The Knit Tabi

A new footwear genre

Construction

The knit fabric is cut with size-specific dies and sewn by the tabi method — fundamentally different from a sock knitted into shape on a circular machine.

Regions

Knit from Mitsuke, Niigata. Sewn in Gyoda, Saitama. Two Japanese craft regions, crossed.

Wearing

A breathable knit with the split toe of a tabi. With setta — flat Japanese sandals — or with sneakers.

SANDALS

The sandal made for these tabi.

A Tochigi leather toe strap on a Vibram® sole, made by Empire Shoes in Nara — chosen because it works with the split toe of The Knit Tabi. The leather softens and takes the shape of your foot as you wear it.
