The Knit Tabi in the press: newspaper coverage, summer–autumn 2026
The Knit Tabi, the knitted version of tabi — Japan’s split-toe footwear — that we launched in June 2026, has been featured in several newspapers and trade papers. Here is a list of the coverage.
Coverage, in order
- 7 July 2026 — Seni News (textile trade paper): new-product column, with photo
- 20 July 2026 — Nikkei MJ: “New Products” column (our post at the time)
- 31 August 2026 — Senken Shimbun (fashion-business daily): an article with a headline and photo
- 18 September 2026 — Senken Shimbun: trade-show report on “Tetete Fair”
None of these were paid placements. We understand they came about through our June press release and the trade show in September. For the articles themselves, please see each publication.
What it means to appear in a trade paper
Seni News and Senken Shimbun are read by people who work in textiles and fashion: the people who make fabric, make clothes and put them on shop floors. It gave people on our side of the industry, beyond our own production region, a chance to see what we are making.
With fewer occasions to wear kimono, tabi are worn less and less. How would a new tabi from a tabi-making town be received? For us, this was one way of finding out.
Showing the next patterns at the trade show
The Senken Shimbun piece of 18 September is a report on “Tetete Fair”, held in Aoyama, Tokyo, from 2 to 4 September. Our booth was featured, and the reporter saw the patterned styles that follow our plain and dot colours.
These new patterns are due to go on sale around mid-October. See The second series: WAGARA for more.
